CBC has renewed reality competition series Race Against the Tide for a fourth season, one month ahead of the season three premiere.
The pubcaster announced the renewal Thursday (June 15) as it revealed the cast of season three, which will debut on July 16. Race Against the Tide is produced by Toronto-based prodco marblemedia and coproduced by Saint John, N.B.-based Hemmings House Films.
Production on the 10 x 30-minute series will begin this summer in New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy, according to a news release.
Race Against the Tide features 12 teams of expert sand sculptors who compete in two groups in a tournament-style competition to build winning works of art before they’re washed away.
The season three teams are competing for a grand prize of $10,000, with Maestro Fresh Wes returning as host.
Executive producers on Race Against the Tide are marblemedia co-CEOs Matt Hornburg and Mark Bishop. Donna Luke, SVP, business operations, is co-executive producer alongside Hemmings House founder Greg Hemmings. Carly Spencer is the series producer and writer, and Stephen Foster serves as producer.
CBC announced during this month’s upfronts that marblemedia’s fellow reality competition series Best in Miniature was renewed for a third season, set to air this fall.
