Plan B adaptation in the works for Germany’s ZDF

Gaumont GmbH is in production on the latest international adaptation of KOTV's scripted anthology format.

Scripted anthology format Plan B has been acquired for a German adaptation.

KOTV Distribution announced Friday (June 2) that Gaumont GmbH, a Berlin-based subsidiary of French studio Gaumount, is now in production on an adaptation for German public broadcaster ZDF.

The adaptation is produced by Gaumont’s Sabine de Mardt and Andreas Bareiss, with Ingrid Kaltenegger and Mika Kallwass penning the script. Directors on the series are Isa Prahl and Eoin Moore, and the cast includes Katja Riemann and Hannah Schiller.

The Plan B format was created by Jean-Francois Asselin and Jacques Drolet and produced by Montreal’s KOTV. The company produced an English-language version for CBC, which aired earlier this year, and is currently in development on a fifth season of the original French-language series for Radio-Canada.

The deal was brokered by Barbara Vallant of Aroma TV. Previous adaptations were sold in France and Flemish Belgium. This marks the first time a Québécois original drama has been adapted in Germany, according to a news release.
