OUTtv orders first U.K. commissions

The U.K. lineup includes an unscripted interactive comedy title, as well as a six-episode stand-up series.

LGBTQ+ TV and streaming service OUTtv has announced its first original U.K. commissions.

The Vancouver-based network has ordered unscripted interactive comedy series Rosie Runs Riot and the stand-up comedy series Live at the Queer Comedy Club. Both series will launch on OUTtv globally later this year, and will air simultaneously on its U.K. channel Froot.tv, according to a news release.

Rosie Runs Riot (6 x 15 minutes), produced by TuckShop, stars drag queen Rosie Beaver as she travels across London, engaging the public about whatever is on her mind, joined by guests from the London Drag Scene for several episodes.

Meanwhile, Live at The Queer Comedy Club (6 x 22 minutes), from Milli Productions, features comedians performing live at North London’s Queer Comedy Club. Each show features one of the founders of the Queer Comedy Club acting as MC, along with two special guest performers selected from the club’s roster of LGBTQ+ talent.

“Comedy is such a rich, expressive genre, and we are excited to have two completely different shows which speak to the queer experience as our first-ever U.K. commissions,” OUTtv COO Philip Webb said in a statement. “There is such a wealth of talent on the LGBTQ+ comedy scene and we are proud to be broadening the spectrum of creative voices we are able to showcase on OUTtv through these two original titles.”
