Edmonton-based Factory Film Studio has appointed Albertan actor and producer Griffin Cork as its new director of acquisitions and marketing as the company continues its expansion from North American distribution into production.
The appointment is effective immediately and follows the recent promotion of Dru Viergever from director of acquisitions to the role of VP, business development.
With the new position the company is looking to tap Griffin’s “knowledge and relationships within the local community” that span from more than 15 years of experience in the film industry, said a news release issued Monday (May 15).
The company permanently moved its production operation from Kingston, Ont., to Edmonton last year.
Cork, who was previously attached as associate producer on the Factory Film/Hot Shots Films feature film Red Pine City, said in a statement he believes “there’s a lot that can be done to raise the global profile of the Canadian and Albertan independent film scene.”
