M ontreal’s Attraction has inked a deal with global distributor and content producer Banijay for its dating format Love is a Highway (Coeur de trucker).
Paris-headquartered Banijay will serve as the international distributor for the format, which connects single truckers on a road trip, with the hope of sparking romance along the way. The deal was announced Wednesday (April 26).
The series is created by Attraction’s creative team. Attraction CEO Richard Speer and VP, production and operations Marie-Élaine Nadeau are executive producers.
The original French-language series Coeur de trucker was commissioned by Unis TV and premiered on April 6. It was renewed for a second season before the first episode aired.
The format was presented at MIPTV as part of the Fresh TV Formats showcase earlier this month.
The deal marks the first partnership between Attraction and Banijay, according to Speer in a statement. “Banijay’s global reach, extensive experience, and strong track record in content distribution make it the perfect partner to help us take this format to new heights,” he said.
Helen Greatorex, head of format acquisitions at Banijay, added that Love is a Highway is a “fresh and authentic take on the dating reality genre, with its unique road trip concept that will resonate with global audiences seeking love and adventure.”
