Rogers makes several c-suite appointments

The leadership team additions follow the company's approved merger with Shaw.

R ogers has made a trio of appointments to its leadership team.

The new roles have been created to “play a critical role” in the company’s growth following the merger with Shaw, according to a statement from president and CEO Tony Staffieri.

Former federal Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry Navdeep Bains (pictured) has been hired as Rogers’ chief corporate affairs officer.

Bains – who has been vice-chair of global investment banking at CIBC since leaving politics in 2021 – will provide leadership on issues such as improving connectivity in rural and remote Indigenous communities across Canada, as well as leading Rogers’ public policy and ESG efforts, focusing on Canada’s digital economy, access for low-income families and climate change.

Zoran Stakic has been appointed Rogers’ new chief transformation officer. Stakic is the former chief operations officer and chief technology officer at Shaw, which recently closed its merger with Rogers. He will lead the post-merger transition, working across Rogers to help bring the two companies’ products and services together.

Terrie Tweddle has been named chief brand and communications officer. In the new role, Tweddle will be responsible for advancing the company’s brand and reputation. Tweddle was most recently the company’s SVP of communications and sustainability, a role she took in October when she rejoined Rogers after two years leading marketing and communications at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

In addition, Ted Woodhead, chief regulatory and government affairs officer, will be leaving the company, with chief legal officer Marisa Wyse adding regulatory affairs duties to her title. Lisa Durocher, EVP of financial services, will also move to report to Mahes Wickramasinghe, the company’s chief commercial officer.

Finally, Brad Shaw, former executive chair and CEO at Shaw, and Trevor English, former EVP and chief financial and corporate development officer at Shaw, will be joining Rogers’ board of directors.

“Over the past 16 months, our senior leadership team has led the turnaround of our performance, closed a historic merger with Shaw and created strong momentum in the marketplace,” said Staffieri in a statement.
