Telefilm has announced the latest recipients of funding from its Low Budget Independent Feature Film Assistance Program. In total, six French-language films will receive funding of the 21 that applied to the program.
This year’s recipients are: the family drama Coteau Rouge (Marc-André Forcier, director; Forcier, Linda Pinet and Georgette Duchaîne, writers); the France co-production Diego Star (Frédérick Pelletier writer/director); Jo pour Jonathan (Maxime Giroux, director; Giroux and Alexandre Laferrière, writers), which is currently in post; Nuit #1 (Anne Emond writer/director) about a one-night stand that finds deeper meaning; Terre Meuble (written and directed by Martin Laroche); and Y’en aura pas de facile (Marc-André Lavoie, writer and director).
The Low Budget program was launched a decade ago, and has aided in the creation of more than 35 features in that time.
‘Independent feature film production is a pillar of the film industry,’ observed Telefilm director of project financing Michel Pradier in a statement. ‘It is vital for Telefilm to support such projects and foster their continued development.’
The English-language component of the program will be announced soon.
