Bell Media’s Crave has greenlit a true crime docuseries about the unsolved murders of Toronto billionaires Barry and Honey Sherman.
Billionaire Murders is a four-part Crave original directed by Joe Danisi and is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) in association with Bell Media. Toronto-based eOne will also handle international distribution.
Toronto Star chief investigative reporter Kevin Donovan (pictured) is attached as an executive producer/investigative reporter and will be featured throughout the series. Donovan is the host of the Toronto Star podcast The Billionaire Murders: The hunt for the killers of Honey and Barry Sherman and author of The Billionaire Murders: The Mysterious Deaths of Barry and Honey Sherman
Executive producers for the series include Danisi, Donovan, eOne’s Jocelyn Hamilton, and Vera Lubimova. Vince Buda is the series producer for eOne.
Billionaire Murders features exclusive access to prominent Canadians who knew the Shermans, as well Donovan’s fellow journalists and several people who are “integral to the investigation,” according to a news release.
The case attracted global attention after the bodies of the Shermans were found in the basement of their mansion in December of 2017.
Donovan said the docuseries “takes audiences behind the scenes of the investigation” after uncovering information “about Barry and Honey’s last days, and the investigation into their murders,” in a statement. It’s slated to debut later this year.
Billionaire Murders joins Crave’s growing slate of originals, including fellow docuseries Dark Side of the Ring and We’re All Gonna Die (Even Jay Baruchel), comedies Letterkenny and its spinoff Shoresy, Canada’s Drag Race, documentary Kings of Coke as well as the upcoming limited drama Little Bird.
