Makers hires Adele Reeves as global development lead

The Toronto-based global producer network has also hired Sophie Chapman-Andrews as executive producer.

Content producer Makers has appointed Adele Reeves as global development lead to expand its original content entertainment business.

The Toronto-based company was founded by Sumit Ajwani in 2016 and utilizes a global producer network of more than 11,000 members to produce content for brands and other clients. Their past entertainment content work includes Canadian film White Lie, directed by Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas, and the series Long Way Up for Apple TV+.

Reeves (pictured right) is based in Barcelona, Spain, and will grow the company’s original content business in the newly created role. She will also work with clients on long-form content projects.

Prior to Makers, Reeves was the executive producer of feature films and series at Red Bull Studios, and was in charge of the development, production and distribution of long-form premium content globally. Her career has seen her in roles such as Reel One Entertainment’s business affairs and production executive, based in Montreal, as well as a producer at Documentary Art Corporation in Vancouver, among others.

Makers has also hired Sophie Chapman-Andrews (pictured left) as executive producer. Both Reeves and Chapman-Andrews began their new roles on Jan. 9, according to a spokesperson for the company.

Chapman-Andrews is based in London, England, and serves as the lead business partner for clients, overseeing the development and execution of projects.

Chapman-Andrews spent the previous five years as Craft Worldwide’s head of integrated production in the U.K., serving as the lead executive producer of campaigns for brands such as Nespresso, Just Eat, Xbox, and Mastercard. Prior to that, she worked for nine years as head of art buying at McCann London.

Ajwani said the addition of talent such as Reeves and Chapman is “critical to sustaining momentum” for the company as its producer-led model takes off, in a statement.
