Trish Neufeld readies doc on Lululemon founder Chip Wilson

Stretched, about the rise and fall of the Canadian billionaire, is in post and now open to potential buyers.

Vancouver-based filmmaker Trish Neufeld’s new feature-length documentary on the rise and fall of Lululemon founder and former CEO Dennis “Chip” Wilson is open for business.

Neufeld (Dancing with Mom, Save Space Nugget) directed and produced Stretched (Lane 4 Entertainment), which was chosen for the inaugural First Look Industry Select Screening at the Whistler Film Festival on Dec. 1. WFF programmers are tasked with selecting one film each year for the First Look initiative, which provides an exclusive opportunity to view a new cinematic work in progress available for worldwide acquisition before it goes to market.

Stretched is currently in post-production and open to potential buyers, a representative for the film tells Playback Daily. John Ritchie (65_RedRoses, The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess) and Graem Luis (Day of the Dead, The Amazing Race Canada) are executive producers.

Stretched was developed with support from the Bell Fund and Creative BC. The budget was not provided.

The film provides “full access to Wilson for the first time ever” and gives “the first intimate look” at the story of the Canadian billionaire (pictured) and his Vancouver-based Lululemon yoga clothing retailer, according to a news release. He founded the company in 1998 and resigned as chairman in 2013 before stepping down from Lululemon entirely in 2015.

Inteviewees include key Lululemon figures as well as business moguls and fashion moguls.

Neufeld said in a statement that the film presents “a raw and unflinching look” at Wilson. “His story is about a key turning point in fashion and society, the science and design of technical garments, alongside the early days of cancel culture,” she added.
