Who watches The Watcher? Canadian audiences certainly amped up demand for the new Netflix series, which debuted at No. 6 on the digital originals chart following its series premiere.
The mystery-thriller (pictured), starring Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale and Jennifer Coolidge, was 17.58 times more in demand than the average series in Canada for the week of Oct. 17 to 23, according to Parrot Analytics. Based on a haunting true story, the seven-episode series premiered on Oct. 13.
Netflix’s Stranger Things maintained its spot at No. 1 on the digital originals chart as well as its No. 3 spot on the overall TV demand list for the week, despite a declining demand average of 28.95 compared to the previous week’s 30.28. Hulu original The Handmaid’s Tale held steady at No. 2 on the digital originals list, and rose to No. 4 on the overall TV list with 27.19.
Disney+’s Andor landed at No. 3 on the digital originals chart and No. 10 on the overall TV series list for the week. The 12-episode series was 22.6 times in demand than the average series in Canada – a slight decrease from the previous week’s 23.54.
Rounding out the series on the top five of the digitals chart are: Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law at No. 4, which was 21.19 times more in demand – a decrease from its season finale with 24.95; and Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power at No. 5, with 17.71.
HBO’s Game of Thrones continued to dominate the overall TV demand chart, with a demand average 40.13 – a slight increase from the previous week’s 40.08. The series is followed by House of the Dragon at No. 2 on the chart, with 35.72 – a slightly higher figure than the previous week’s 34.85. Disney Channel’s The Owl House came in at No. 5 on the overall TV demand chart, with 26.64.
