Iwai named chairman at D Films

Darryl Iwai has been appointed chairman of the board of directors for feature distributor D Films.

Iwai previously served as president of worldwide distribution for Signpost Films, and prior to that, as president of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment Canada. He is currently a shareholder and board member of KTI Limited and Fountain Hills Investments, private companies operating in the energy and real estate industries, respectively.

D Films recently picked up the Canadian rights to sci-fi drama Monsters (the first feature from U.K. writer-director Gareth Edwards), the biopic Winnie about the controversial Winnie Mandela, and Roller Town, the feature film debut of Halifax comedy troupe Picnicface.
