Oops, wrong Richard
The angular jaw jutting out of the Robocap headgear on p. 1 of the Nov. 22 issue is not that of Hollywood actor Richard Crenna but talented young Canadian actor Richard Eden.
It seems Crenna was in town shooting Janek: The Brownstone Murders and Janek: Wallflower and our star-crossed reporter got her stars crossed. She has since packed her bags and booked a flight to Ecuador to commiserate with other cuckoos.
Eden is the star of Skyvision’s $36.5 million Robocop series, currently shooting in Toronto. His numerous credits include Matrix, Counterstrike, Secret Service, Top Cops, Falconcrest and Santa Barbara, for which he won an Emmy nomination as best supporting actor. Our apologies to Mr. Eden for the mix-up.
Avonlea not dropped by Radio-Canada
an article in the Nov. 22 issue of Playback on Canadian crossover programming on cbc/Radio-Canada incorrectly stated that Radio-Canada had dropped Sullivan Films’ Road to Avonlea series for the 1993/94 season. In fact, the French-language public broadcaster has purchased 26 hours from the production’s third and fourth season and is slated to broadcast it in 1994. Radio-Canada has also acquired the four-hour miniseries By Way of the Stars and reruns of Anne of Green Gables and the sequel.
Avonlea and Kids are ACEs too
in the same issue, an item on the 1993 Cable ACE Awards failed to mention two nominations for Sullivan Films’ Road to Avonlea – for best series and best art direction, Nancy Pankiw. Road to Avonlea won the 1992 ACE Award for best series, and in September, the production won a Primetime Emmy Award.
The Broadway Video International/cbc sketch comedy series Kids in the Hall is also in the running for an ACE Award. It has been nominated as best comedy series.
Wrong production
due to an editing error in last issue’s Ontario Scene column, it was stated that Michael Burgess is interested in the lead role in Richard Bond’s Music From the Mountain. The project Burgess is interested in is Cambium’s Unfinished Conversation, the story of Stan Rogers. The classical guitarist in Music From the Mountain is Alvise Migotto.
