Telefilm commitments
In January, Telefilm Canada made commitments to participate in four new TV productions through the Canadian Broadcast Program Development Fund.
A Soldier’s Peace, a documentary/miniseries produced by Michael Maclear at Toronto’s Screenlife for the cbc and Arts & Entertainment network, will receive $392,000. Producers Simcha Jacobovici and Elliott Halpern at Toronto’s Reunion Films will receive $200,000 for The Plague Monkeys, a documentary for the CBC. Receiving You Loud and Clear, a documentary being produced by Angela Gwynn John and Tom Perlmutter at Archer Films and ARC Films in Halifax, will receive $42,615. The program is being produced with tvontario, CFCF-TV Hamilton, Access Network, Knowledge Network and the Nova Scotia Department of Education. And This Hour Has 22 Minutes, a comedy series from Halifax’s Salter Street Films, will receive $400,000. Michael Donovan produces the series, which is broadcast on the CBC.
Working the Knight shift
Paragon Entertainment has begun production on 26 new episodes of Forever Knight. The vampire cop series airs on Global Television, and will be distributed in the U.S. by TriStar Television for syndication.
