Sonic Nursery Creative summer slate features drag rom-com, design competition for OUTtv

It's All Sunshine and Rainbows, starring Canadian drag star Priyanka and directed by the Slo Pitch team, joins Sew Fierce in the Toronto prodco's summer production slate.

A   rom-com feature starring Canada’s Drag Race season one winner Priyanka (pictured) and drag competition series Sew Fierce lead the summer production slate for Toronto prodco Sonic Nursery Creative.

It’s All Sunshine and Rainbows is co-directed by Gwenlyn Cumyn and Karen Knox (Slo Pitch) and written by Lauren Whitelaw. It stars Priyanka in a drag take on the traditional MOW where a weather reporter returns to her family farm to support the business after the passing of her aunt, but must find a way to work with her new business partner, played by Curtis Lovell.

The film, which goes to camera this summer, was greenlit by OUTtv and is the LGBTQ+ network’s first film commission, according to the release. OUTtv’s Philip Webb and Brad Danks are executive producers and OUTtv Media Global (OMG) holds the worldwide distribution rights.

The prodco will also go to camera this summer on the previously announced drag design competition series Sew Fierce, set for OUTtv’s fall lineup. The series is directed and produced by Sonic Nursery founder Kyle Whitelaw, with Webb and Banks attached as executive producers.

The series is hosted by French Canadian drag personality Barbada De Barbades, while drag star and costume designer Lucinda Miu serving as a mentor. OMG handles format sales and worldwide distribution.

Sonic Nursery Creative has previously collaborated with OUTtv on the Canadian Screen Award-nominated unscripted series Knock Knock Ghost.
