Martin joins Avanti

Multiple Prix Gemeaux director Richard Martin has joined production house Avanti Cine Video as a partner in the company.

Martin, who spent five years as head of drama programming at Radio-Canada, and Avanti partner Jean Bissonnette, codirected the first Radio-Canada year-end special, Bye Bye, in 1969.

Martin’s credits include Lance et compte II & III, La Misere des riches, Desjardins, Au Nom du pere et du fils, and most recently, Les Duchesnay.

Avanti produces the hit Radio-Canada sitcom La Petite vie. Producers are Bissonnette, Jean-Claude Lesperance and Luc Wiseman.

INIS announces

new board

Institut national de l’image et du son has named a new board of directors and hired Louise Spickler as its first director general.

inis chairman Pierre Roy says the advanced film studies institute will complete financing requirements in 1994 and receive its first students in 1995.

Board members are Janette Bertrand, Rock Demers, Claude Fournier, Andre Melancon, Louise Jobin, Patrice Houx, Marcel Carriere, Andre Monette, France Capistran, Jacques Bilodeau, Monique Champagne, Joan Pennefather, Jacques Payette and Yvon Trudel.

Spickler is a communications consultant with production and directing experience at both Radio-Canada and the National Film Board. In her new post she will be responsible for program co-ordination, admission policy and administration.
