Alliance/CBS develop three TV flicks
Alliance Communications is developing three more tv movies with cbs, bringing the number of coproductions for the producer/distributor and the u.s. network to a current total of nine. Two of the three pics are Canadian stories – an mow titled Free My Son: The David Milgaard Story and a drama based on rape victim Dalia Gelineau’s story, Victims No More.
The third script is also expected to be based on a Canadian chronicle and Alliance anticipates that the movies will be shot in Canada, according to Pauline Couture, vice-president of communications at Alliance.
Other production deals for cbs and Alliance include the Harlequin Romance Collection movies and two dramas signed with Angela Lansbury’s production company, Corymore Productions.
FUND-ing for nine new projects
the Foundation to Underwrite New Drama has nine new projects added to its slate for development. In first draft are: See Jackie Run, written by Kevin Boland; Raymond Pannell’s A Soldier’s Woman, a Panmedia production; Charcoal, penned by Don Truckey; Tom Simpson’s Bolingbroke’s Man; and Bruce Edwards’ Tracks.
Projects in treatment are: Goodbyes by Frances Gallagher, Peggy Thompson’s Maggie and Lila and Black Madonna by Frank Paci. Bonjour Timothy, David Preston’s script for Cinar Productions, is in final draft. All projects are first-time recipients of fund loans.
