The 23rd edition of the Montreal International Festival of New Cinema and Video will take place as planned June 9-19 with a beefed-up format that includes 100 indoor and 30 outdoor screenings.

The new date for the festival – it previously ran in late fall – and changed format led to internal dissent which partly compromised the event’s funding. The problems appear to have been resolved, but festival director Claude Chamberlan has issued an industry-wide appeal for financial support.
