Love Nature greenlights two original series, launches social responsibility initiative

Conservation groups featured in Wild Dogs: Running with the Pack and Becoming Orangutan will benefit from Love Nature Gives Back.

Blue Ant Media’s Washington, D.C.-headquartered Love Nature has announced two fresh original series that fall under the umbrella of a new social responsibility initiative called Love Nature Gives Back.

The 6 x 30-minute Wild Dogs: Running with the Pack (pictured), produced by U.K.-based Icon Films, follows wildlife filmmaker Julz Braatvedt as he tries to document and protect African wild dogs with the Zambian Carnivore Program. In the 3 x 60-minute miniseries Becoming Orangutan, produced by New Zealand’s NHNZ Worldwide, cameras capture orphaned baby primates at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation as they learn how to survive in the wild.

Both titles will premiere on the wildlife and nature brand’s platforms around the world this summer and on Sky Nature later this year, distributed internationally by Blue Ant International. They’re also part of the distributor’s new slate of offerings at MIPTV and its Love Nature Gives Back initiative.

Love Nature Gives Back supports conservation organizations featured in Love Nature productions through monetary donations, the creation of supporting media and awareness campaigns. Organizations benefitting from the first round of support include the Zambian Carnivore Program from Wild Dogs and the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation from Becoming Orangutan.

The initiative is also supporting Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, featured in the previously announced, 12 x 60-minute series Malawi Wildlife Rescue seasons one and two, and Save the Elephants, featured in the 4 x 60-minute Chasing the Rains.

“Love Nature Gives Back was born out of the need to connect more meaningfully with our content and to give back to organizations who are dedicated to conserving wildlife,” said Alison Barrat, SVP of production and development at Love Nature, in a statement. “We’re grateful to Icon Films and NHNZ Worldwide for bringing these stories to life and enabling us to use the power of our programming to create a lasting conservation impact.”

NHNZ Worldwide was previously a subsidiary of Blue Ant Media under the name NHNZ until 2021, when Blue Ant sold its majority stake in the prodco to its current CEO Dame Julie Christie. Blue Ant currently holds a minority stake in the company.
