Seoul-based TV format agency Something Special will handle Asian distribution of the format Don’t Laugh. In addition, the companies have partnered on development of the Media Ranch competition reality format Finally, It’s Mine with South Korean production company Sweet Pumpkin.

The companies previously signed an agreement to represent format titles internationally, with Something Special representing Media Ranch format Watch! in Asia, while Media Ranch represents Something Special formats Miracle Habits and Miracle Recipes in regions outside of Asia.

Media Ranch has also partnered with U.S. company Small World IFT to distribute the format Happily Ever Apart from Japanese network TV Asahi. Additionally, Media Ranch has signed an option deal with North Carolina-based prodco Figure 8 Films.

Meanwhile, Red Arrow Studios-owned Burbank, Calif., prodco 44 Blue Productions has optioned the rights to Boundary, a format created through Media Ranch’s partnership with FormatEast, a subsidiary of Korean broadcaster SBS. The format is created by MiYeon Kim, who previously created the hit South Korean game show Running Man. Another title formed via the partnership, Honey in the Box, has been optioned by 1/17 for the U.S. and Fair-Play Group for French-speaking Canada.

“Today marks the next step in Media Ranch expanding its content scope with not only strong partnerships, but with meaningful ones that fit into our future… we realize the more we reach across borders, the more we find successful friendships to build outstanding formats,” said Media Ranch president and founder Sophie Ferron (pictured) in a statement.
