Nelvana Enterprises has secured international television distribution rights to the hit animated children’s series, The Magic School Bus.
The Scholastic Productions science lesson show for kids aged five to 10 premiered mid-September on pbs. The voices of Lily Tomlin, Robby Benson, Carol Channing, Ed Begley and Dom DeLuise, among others, are featured.
Jim Lee’s WildC.A.T.s Covert Action Team, an animated adventure series based on the best-selling Image Comics book, will make its u.s.. debut on cbs this fall The new Nelvana series, which will air Saturday mornings, follows the adventures of the Wildc.a.t.s, an organization of dynamic superheroes who must do battle against evil aliens for power over the planet.
And Nelvana’s animated children’s series Rupert, based on the 1920s strip cartoon, will premiere in the Nick Jr. preschool block on Nickelodeon in September 1995.
Culbert steps up at CBC
Bob Culbert has been named cbc’s executive director, news, current affairs and Newsworld, effective Sept. 26. A veteran cbc journalist, Culbert replaces Tim Kotcheff, who left the position in June.
Global’s Dawe quits
Global Television news anchor John Dawe has resigned from the News at Noon to ‘pursue a new career.’ A replacement for Dawe has not yet been named.
