Toronto-based internet and IPTV provider VMedia has been selected as an official distribution agent in Canada for Ukraine 24, the leading 24-hour television news channel from Ukraine.
The news comes shortly after VMedia joined several broadcasters in removing Russian state-owned television network RT, formerly known as Russia Today, from their lineups amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
VMedia says it has added Ukraine 24 to all of its basic and premium packages offered by VMedia TV, as well as the core package of its live and on-demand streaming TV service RiverTV to subscribers at no additional charge. The Ukraine 24 signal became available from VMedia to any TV carrier as of Tuesday (March 1).
In a statement, VMedia president and CEO Alexei Tchernobrivets says the company can make Ukraine 24 “available to TV providers very quickly” and they encourage all carriers to reach out to them to include Ukraine 24 in their TV offering.
The company adds it “can make the channel available to any carrier at no cost, to enable their subscribers to keep informed of day-to-day developments in the Ukraine.”
Tchernobrivets says the company has added Ukraine 24 “to facilitate the ability of concerned Canadians, especially those of Ukrainian heritage, to have a reliable source of information about their homeland.”
