Five television commercials, two radio entries produced by Toronto-based Pirate Radio, four print ads, two outdoor and one direct-mail campaign from Canada were first-place Mobius winners this month at the 24th edition of this international ad industry awards show held annually in Chicago, Illinois.
‘Curveball’
Toronto’s Vickers and Benson ‘Curveball’ creative for Molson Breweries, directed by Bill Irish of Kessler-Irish Films, hit a homer in the hotly contended beer category.
The computer animation nod went to ‘Danse Sociale’ for Federation des producteurs de lait du Quebec. Yves Laniel of Montreal’s Buzz headed up the special effects and Mark S. Grenier of La Fabrique D’Images directed the spot out of PNMD/Publitel.
‘Girl Trouble’
Joseph Sherman of Toronto’s Bear Spots was animation director and Phil Kates directed the live action for L.T.B. Productions on the top cereal spot, ‘Girl Trouble,’ for Kellogg Canada and Leo Burnett, Toronto.
Toronto’s Radke Films produced the top psa, ‘Working Late,’ directed by Robert Black for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints out of Bonneville Communications, Salt Lake City, Utah.
‘Wrap it Up,’ produced by The Partners’ Film Company for Bates Canada and Carter Products, was deemed best condom commercial; John Zurik directed.
