Re: the page 1 story, ‘Baton metamorphosis a `work in progress’ ‘ in the April 10 issue: bctv informs us that its NewsHour has for years been the number one newscast in Canada, citing April bbm numbers as 516,000 2+ for bctv’s average Monday to Friday audience, while cfto’s World Beat News was at 502,000.

In the story cftpa celebrates successes at annual meeting (April 10, p. 8), issues stated to be on the table included non-Writers Guild members sharing in the production fee, which was referred to as a new development. It is actually specifically in the area of coproductions (wherein writers contracted under the ipa share credit with writers contracted under other agreements), that writers will now be compensated according to credit. As long as the writers were contracted under the ipa, they have always shared in the production fee.
