Strange but true, Canadian sensibilities show through in the top 10 programs in the Toronto/Hamilton market compared to the season-to-date ratings in the u.s. for primetime programs as of Nov. 12.
The X-Files, ranked number 41 on the u.s. top 120 chart, is number one in the Toronto/Hamilton area for the week ending Nov. 12 with a 16% audience share, according to Nielsen People Metres.
Compared to its number-one status in the States (24% audience share), er is running in fourth position in Southern Ontario with a 12% share for the same week.
Seinfeld and Friends are numbers two and three, north and south of the border, with Caroline in the City slipping to fifth spot in Toronto/Hamilton with a 12% share.
Home Improvement, fifth in the States, is off the Canadian chart, while Frasier, ranking 10th in the u.s., is ninth in Canada with a 10% audience share behind Mad About You, running 20th in the u.s. season-to-date.
Beverly Hills 90210, waning in the States in 44th position, is number five here with a 12% share. Single Guy, riding behind Friends in both territories, ranks seventh in Canada and sixth in the u.s. but Coach, NYPD Blue, 20/20 and NFL Monday Night Football all in the u.s. top 10, are off the Toronto/Hamilton chart.
