Cinar Films has opened a new music division, Cinar Music.

The company’s mandate is to create and clear music for all Cinar productions, produce and release audio products for the market, and manage the company’s two in-house publishing companies.

Staff includes Dan Tierney, director; Jeff Zahn, creative supervisor; Ann Lane, business affairs; and Caroline Tremblay, co-ordinator.

Cinar Music’s first release is a compilation of tunes from the Madeline series, released in the u.s. on the Sony Wonder label. A Canadian release will follow. Cinar has a five-year audio and home video release deal with Sony Music Canada.

In 1995, Cinar produced 110 songs for 140 half-hours of programming.
