Hilda wins Daytime Emmy for children’s animated series

The Netflix animated series, co-produced by Ottawa's Mercury Filmworks, picked up two Daytime Emmy awards at the weekend ceremonies.

A nimated Canadian copro Hilda picked up Daytime Emmy gold this weekend.

The Netflix original, produced by Ottawa’s Mercury Filmworks and U.S. prodco Silvergate Media, won Outstanding Children’s Animated Series at the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, as well as Outstanding Editing for a Daytime Animated Program. The children’s and animated categories were announced as part of a number of ceremonies held over the weekend (July 17 and 18).

The series was up against fellow Netflix series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and Tales of Arcadia: Wizards, as well as Disney Channel’s Amphibia and Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek.

Hilda was nominated for five awards overall and was one of several Canadian projects to pick up Daytime Emmy nods this year. Sinking Ship – which won three Daytime Emmys earlier this year – earned 23 total nominations, with Nelvana and 9 Story Media Group also picking up nominations for series such as Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, The Hardy Boys and Esme & Roy.

Hilda was previously nominated for a Peabody Award in the child and youth programming category in 2019.
