Buck Productions has hired veteran exec Matthew Kershaw to head up its Los Angeles office.
In the role of development executive and head of L.A., Kershaw will take the lead on creative development, scripted and unscripted production and forging brand partnerships.
Throughout a 25-year career, Kershaw has worked on more than 400 hours of screen-based content, including creating and producing more than 75 episodes of At the End of My Leash (Slice, HGTV Canada, Animal Planet), which sold to more than 100 countries and received a Gemini Award nomination for Best Lifestyle Series, and later its sequel series Puppy SOS (Slice).
Through Interior Day Entertainment, a company he co-founded in 2007, he developed series such as Stewarts & Hamiltons (E!) and produced a pilot for a Real Housewives series based in San Diego.
The announcement of Kershaw’s hire comes as Buck, which is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, looks to grow its footprint in the U.S. market.
In October, Buck’s 40 Year Old Property Virgin was ordered by HGTV in the U.S. The 10-part series has also been licensed to Discovery+ and launches on the U.S. version of the service today. It will also launch on Discovery+ in the Netherlands on May 31.
The show was one of four projects filmed by Buck since the onset of the pandemic. The prodco also shot the digital series YO! MTV MAPS (MTV International); season three of Merchants of the Wild (APTN/Blue Ant) and season two of Life, Death & Money (REELZ).
