Three Henrys, no waiting. That’s going to be the mantra at Command Post from now on.
Expansion has been the focus at Command Post of late, and the company has taken over new office space on the floor beneath the original space, joining the two with a staircase. Set to be moved into all that new space are two new Henry systems. They’ve been delivered and at press time expected to be installed and operational by mid-June.
Also at the forefront are recent modifications to the company’s Rank Cintel film scanners. Over the last few years, digital deflection, Meta-Speed, shading correctors and improved photoelectric cells have improved the performance of the scanners, but the most recent modifications will allow the telecine to scan film at an 8:8:8 sampling ratio. Scanning at 27 MHz rather than 13.5 MHz means more detail will be picked off the film in both the luma and chroma components.
More detail means colorists will require less enhancement and contour correction from the noise reducer, and the improved bandwidths make the telecines ready for hdtv.
Sister company Medallion pfa is bringing in new gear as well. Another tape-to-tape room has been built and it’s equipped with a DaVinci Renaissance color corrector specifically for tape-to-tape.
Another online editorial suite has been added, with a new editor to follow. The suite has an Axial 2020 edit controller, an Alpha 500 digital switcher, an Abekas A66 digital disc recorder, an Abekas A57 dve and a Lumena paint system.
