In the English-language category, nominees for best drama are Knowledge Network’s Kidzone, OMM Productions’ On My Mind, Nelvana’s Jake & The Kid, Devine Entertainment’s The Composers’ Specials, Cinar’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Atlantis/ Credo’s Heck’s Way Home.

Vying for best English-language animation program are How Dinosaurs Learned to Fly from the nfb, Katie & Orbie from Lacewood, The Busy World of Richard Scarry out of Cinar, and Little Bear from Nelvana.

In line for best English-language information program are the ytv/ctv coproduction YTV News, cfcf’s Buzz One and Midnight Highway Film/cbc’s From the Hip.

In the preschool category, nominees are Theodore Tugboat (Andrew Cochran & Associates), Dudley the Dragon (Breakthrough Films & Television) and Groundling Marsh (Portfolio/J.A. Delmage Productions).

CBC Halifax’s Streetcents is the only contender for best English-language instructional program.

In the French-language section, vying for the drama award are Watatatow (Productions jbm), Les Aventures de la Courte Echelle (Allegro Films), and La Princesse Astronaute (Les Productions Sogestalt).

In the animation category, both contenders are from Cine-Groupe – Les Tribulations du Cabotin and Spirou.

La Maison de Ouimzie from Cinar and Iris Le Gentil Professeur from Desclez Productions are up for best preschool program.

Information program nominees are Ici Ados Canada (Productions Pixcom), Quand le Cirque Debarque en Ville (Fondations Adobe) and Betes Pas Betes (Radio-Canada).

Productions sda’s Mais Ou Se Cache Carmen Sandiego? and Tele-Pirate v, and Radio-Canada’s Genie en Herbe Jr. are up for best variety/special program. CB
