Grey Gardens picked up another three Emmys on Saturday, though Patricia Rozema and Michael Sucsy missed their bid for writing honors. The HBO movie earned a best lead actress nod for Jessica Lange and a supporting actor win for Ken Howard — but the writing trophy went instead to Andrew Davis for his work on the BBC/PBS copro Little Dorrit.
Gardens lost to the Charles Dickens adaptation in several categories this year, including prizes for costumes, cinematography and casting at last week’s Creative Arts Emmys, though it won best art direction, hair and prosthetic makeup.
During Sunday’s Primetime Emmys, again dominated by cable outlets such as HBO and AMC, Dorrit also earned the win for directing, while Gardens took the prize for best MOW, which was accepted by Sucsy.
