Ramsay gets animated with Cuppa Coffee

Cuppa Coffee Studios will cook up a new primetime animated comedy series featuring Gordon Ramsay, following a recent deal with the U.K.-based celebrity chef.

The Toronto company is looking to produce 20 episodes of the show, titled Gordon Ramsay, At Your Service, and is likely to start production early next year for a January 2011 airdate. Details are still being worked out.

A spokesperson for Cuppa Coffee tells Playback Daily Ramsay ‘loved’ the idea when approached by the prodco, and was ‘quick to get on board.’ Cuppa Coffee says the series will deliver a unique take on the profanity-prone chef’s ‘larger than life personality.’

‘We’re taking the essence of who he is and having a bit of fun with it. Never before have we encountered this type of excitement from broadcasters,’ added Cuppa Coffee president and exec producer Adam Shaheen in a release. Shaheen is currently meeting with international broadcasters and will also be shopping the series at MIPCOM next week.

Ramsay is best known for cooking-themed TV series including Hell’s Kitchen, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and The F Word – broadcast here on Food Network Canada. Hell’s Kitchen also airs on Citytv.

Cuppa Coffee’s credits include stop-motion animated series Rick & Steve, airing on MTV sister channel LOGO, Nick at Nite’s Glenn Martin DDS and Celebrity Deathmatch, airing on MTV.
