The end of the year will see the fruition of some major investments by The Partners’ Film Company in its operations. Partners’ is undertaking the revamping and upgrading of its post and control facilities, relocating its Revolver Films and Videogenics companies, and working on the formation of a new locations company to standardize the quality of locations service for Partners’ affiliates and the local industry as a whole.
The new year is the likely launch date of the locations division, which will feature a comprehensive range of services including overseeing scouts and site managers, rentals, permits and a cd-rom and online-based locations library.
The library will consist of digitally captured location photos which will be available in thumbnail form online and in their entirety in cd-rom form. Partners’ says this service will allow location photos to be downloaded immediately into computers and will standardize the way files are maintained, ensuring that information on contacts and when pictures were taken and other corresponding data is included.
The locations service will benefit Partners’ and affiliates but will also be open for industry-wide use. The company’s intention with the establishment of the locations arm is to set a standard for various locations services and practices and provide a voice for the commercial industry in regulatory matters, like those that involve Ontario Hydro, the city and health and safety issues.
Partners’ has also invested about $500,000 in the upgrade and renovation of its post-production and control rooms. The company has upgraded its eight Avid editing systems and will link all editing rooms to the control room to facilitate the handling of more in-house post on low-end and video projects.
Also, Partners’ affiliate Videogenics has moved to 431 Richmond Street East and Revolver will move to the fourth floor of one of the Partners’ complex.
