Schitt’s Creek is closing on a high note, with the hit comedy earning 15 nominations in the 72nd annual Emmy Awards.

The CBC comedy is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, up against Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dead to Me, Insecure, The Good Place, The Kominsky Method, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and What We Do in the Shadows.

Eugene Levy is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series alongside Don Cheadle (Black Monday), Anthony Anderson (black-ish), Ramy Youssef (Ramy), Ted Danson (The Good Place) and Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method). Catherine O’Hara is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series beside Tracee Ellis Ross (black-ish), Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me), Christina Applegate (Dead to Me), Issa Rae (Insecure) and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).

In the supporting categories, Dan Levy is up for supporting actor against Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Mahershala Ali (Ramy), Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live), William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), Alan Arkin (The Kominsky Method), Sterling K. Brown (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Tony Shaloub (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Annie Murphy will compete for supporting actress beside Betty Gilpin (GLOW), Yvonne Orji (Insecure), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), D’Arcy Caden (The Good Place), Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Marin Hinkle (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).

The series earned two nominations in Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series – one for Dan Levy and one for David West Read – while Levy and Andrew Cividino are up for Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series. It picked up an additional seven nominations in the craft categories, including casting, costumes, hairstyling, makeup, picture editing and sound mixing.

Schitt’s Creek is co-created by Dan and Eugene Levy and produced under the father and son duo’s banner Not a Real Company Productions. It aired on CBC in Canada and Pop TV in the U.S.

Several Toronto-shot series picked up multiple nods. The Handmaid’s Tale is up for 10 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, supporting actor, supporting actress and guest actress. What We Do in the Shadows picked up eight nominations, while Mrs. America picked up 10, including Outstanding Limited Series. Ottawa-born Sandra Oh is also up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Killing Eve.

Meanwhile, The Morning Show, which is produced by BRON Studios-founded prodco Media Res, earned eight nominations, including lead actor and lead actress.

The nominations were announced this morning (July 28) by Leslie Jones, who hosted the livestream event alongside presenters Tatiana Maslany, Josh Gad and Laverne Cox.

This is the final year for Schitt’s Creek to win Emmy gold, as the series concluded this year with its sixth season. The show picked up four nominations at last year’s Emmy for its penultimate season, including best comedy – which ultimately went to Fleabag – and acting nods for stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara.
