Word on the street has it Yorkton Securities is shopping the assets of Toronto-based Paragon Entertainment, with names like Alliance and Atlantis among the potential buyers, as is Lions Gate Entertainment. Paragon assets include the Lacewood animation library and HandMade Films feature library, purchased at a cost of us$8.5 million. One analyst says the fit might be better for Alliance, which is actively growing its u.k. business.

Meanwhile, Paragon Financial Investments signed on for financing of up to 25% of two films shooting in Toronto. Directed by Gail Harvey and exec produced by Richard Lowry and George Flack, Striking Poses stars Shannen Doherty, Joseph Griffin and Colm Feore. Sunrise is a copro with Producers Network Associates, directed by Clay Boris, starring Greg Evigan, Sydney Penny and Tony Lo Bianco.
