Toronto’s Sinking Ship Entertainment has earned a total of 16 nominations from the Daytime Emmy Awards for its work on Ghostwriter, Dino Dana (pictured) and Odd Squad.

Set to be presented during a two-hour special on June 26 on CBS, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ 47th annual awards recognize the best in daytime TV programming.

This year’s nominations represent a slight increase for Sinking Ship, which previously picked up a combined 15 nominations for Dino Dana (8) and Odd Squad (7) last year. For 2020, kids-focused prodco garnered eight nominations for Ghostwriter, while Dino Dana and Odd Squad picked up four nominations each.

Notably, the trio will face off against one another in two categories: Outstanding Sound Editing for a Live Action Program and Outstanding Special Effects Costume, Makeup and Hairstyling.

Ghostwriter (Sinking Ship/Sesame Workshop) – which received the most nominations out of the three – is competing in categories such as Outstanding Writing for a Children’s or Young Adult Program; Outstanding Lighting Direction; Outstanding Main Title and Graphic Design for a Live Action Program; Outstanding Cinematography; and Outstanding Costume Design/Styling.

The series is also up against Light as a Feather (Wattpad Studios/AwesomenessTV/Grammnet) in Outstanding Directing for a Children’s or Young Adult Program, which received a total of six nods from the awards – including Outstanding Young Adult Program and Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program. Light as a Feather‘s Liana Liberato, Jordan Rodrigues and Brianne Tju also secured three out of the five nominations for Outstanding Principal Performance in a Daytime Program.

Dino Dana, meanwhile, is among this year’s Outstanding Preschool Children’s Series nominees alongside Blue’s Clues & You! (9 Story Media Group/Brown Bag Films/Nickelodeon), Helpsters, Ryan’s Mystery Playdate and Sesame Street. The gender-flipped version of Dino Dan is also nominated in Outstanding Limited Performance in a Daytime Program for Bill Cobbs.

9 Story Media Group and Brown Bag Films also received a combined nine nominations for projects such as: Blue’s Clues & You (two); Vampirina (two); Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood (one); Nature Cat (one); Doc McStuffins (one); Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum (one); and Let’s Go Luna!. Both Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Nature Cat are nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Preschool Animated Program, while Doc McStuffins and Vampirina are in the Outstanding Preschool Children’s Animated Series.

This year’s awards will also see Holly Hobbie (Aircraft Pictures/Cloudco Entertainment/Wexworks Media, one) compete against Bunk’d, Just Add Magic and Sinking Ship’s Odd Squad for the Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing crown.

Additionally, The Last Kids on Earth (Atomic Cartoons, one) is also in the running for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program alongside Carmen Sandiego (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt/ WildBrain, four). The two are squaring off against Milo Murphy’s Law, Elena of Avalor: The Magic Within and Big City Greens: Green Christmas.

Animated series Carmen Sandiego – which features the voices of Gina Rodriguez and Finn Wolfhard – is also nominated for: Outstanding Directing for an Animated Program; Outstanding Casting for an Animated Series or Special; and finally, Outstanding Sound Editing for an Animated Program. WildBrain’s Snoopy in Space and Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10 also received recognition. Snoopy in Space is nominated for the Outstanding Short Format Children’s Program, while Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10 received three nominations, including Outstanding Special Class – Short Format Daytime Program.

Others nominated include: The Dragon Prince (two); True and the Rainbow Kingdom (one); The Lion Guard (one); Nick Jr Paw Patrol Ready, Race, Rescue: Trailer (one).
