News Brief: TSN signs six-year Leafs deal

TSN has signed a six-year regional television rights agreement with Molson Breweries and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In the 1998/99 season, tsn will broadcast 31 Toronto Maple Leaf hockey games, beginning on Oct. 19 when Toronto plays the Nashville Predators. tsn personality Dave Hodge and hockey expert Bob McKenzie will host the broadcast, while Harry Neale and Joe Bowen will provide commentary.

tsn’s agreement with the Maple Leafs coincides with its deal with the Montreal Canadiens in May. For the 2001/02 hockey season, tsn announced it would carry a minimum of 20 games per season for Montreal and broadcast them to Quebec, the Maritimes and east of the Ottawa Valley.
