NBCUniversal-owned channel Syfy has renewed Van Helsing for a fifth and final season, set to air in 2020.
The series, produced by Calgary-based Nomadic Pictures, will head into production on one last 13 x 60-minute season early next year.
Jonathan Lloyd Walker will return as showrunner on season five, with Nomadic’s Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev serving as producers alongside Morris Chapdelaine and Chris Rudolph. Executive producers on the series include Oakes, Frislev and Walker, as well as Dave Brown and Zadoc Angell of L.A.-based Echo Lake Entertainment and Daniel March of Dynamic Television.
Van Helsing airs on Super Ecran in Quebec, Syfy in the U.S. and streams on Netflix for the rest of the world, including Canada. Kelly Overton stars as Helsing, who lives in a world overrun by vampires. Her co-stars include Jonathan Scarfe, Tricia Helfer, Nicole Munoz, Keeya King, Neal McDonough, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard and Aleks Paunovic.
Dynamic Television holds worldwide distribution rights to the series, excluding Canada and first-run rights in the U.S.
