Coscient Group distribution arm Motion International and l.a.-based Hearst Entertainment have signed a deal for two tv movies produced in Montreal by Coscient’s Allegro Films. Total budget for the two films is $5 million.
The first, Sublet, starring Danny Nucci, David Carradine and Victoria Sanchez, is a thriller about an unwitting clerk who gets caught up in a plot to assassinate the u.s. president.
John Hamilton directed, with Stuart Harding as producer and Jacques Methe, Stephane Reichel and Anne Carlucci as executive producers. Sylvie Laurin is executive in charge of production. Sublet wrapped Sept. 27 in Montreal.
The second film, The Witness Files, shoots until Nov. 6 in Montreal and revolves around the murder of an undercover cop and the District Attorney’s hunt to find and convict the killer despite a lack of evidence.
Renaud Mathieu is the producer, with Douglas Jackson directing. Methe, Reichel and Diana Kerew are executive producers and Laurin is the executive in charge of production.
Both films are scheduled for delivery at the end of December.
No broadcasters have been announced yet, but Motion will have Canadian, u.s. and French-speaking territory rights while Hearst will distribute in all other territories.
