TVA gets new structure

Montreal: Groupe tva has established a new executive committee aimed at accelerating the broadcast/production company’s business development plans.

Appointed 19 months ago, president and ceo Daniel Lamarre says the new management structure ‘is about putting the right people in place who can help me develop this company.’

Lamarre has announced the following executive committee appointments: Robert Trempe, senior vp, sales and home shopping; Andre Provencher, senior vp, network programming and TVA International; Raynald Briere, senior vp, broadcasting and specialty channels; and Joane Demers, senior vp and cfo.

Lamarre says emerging profit centers include new business between TVA International and Fox Family Channel, and program coproductions and other activities with France’s M 6 (Groupe Metropole).

‘There is a lot of room to maneuver and make more profit. I guess content is going to be my new number one profit center,’ he predicts.

On a project basis, Lawrence Weinstock has been named vp, HSS Canada. Luc Sabbatini is the new gm, national sales, and Louise Godon is responsible for specialty channel and TVA Website sales.

In content, reporting to Provencher, Philippe Lapointe has been moved over from operations and appointed vp, programming; Marc Blondin is vp, information (news) and public affairs; and former Cirque du Soleil manager Marie Beauchamp has joined tva as gm, advertising and promotion.

The TVA International team includes Francois St-Laurent, vp, production, and Nancy Wells, gm.

Briere’s operations’ mandate includes infrastructure management and cost efficiencies. His department includes Dany Harrison, vp, technologies and multimedia; Marleen Beaulieu, vp/gm, JPL Productions; Claude Thibodeau, gm, cfcm-tv and regional stations; Luc Sauvageau, vp, operations; and Serge Bellerose, gm, Le Canal Nouvelles.

Renee-Claude Menard is the newly named gm, corporate communications and media relations. She reports directly to Lamarre.
