Harbour kaput, Fogbound dormant

Fogbound Films’ Black Harbour has been canceled, marking the end of a series and a partnership.

The drama, produced with Halifax’s Topsail Entertainment, shot 39 episodes and ran on cbc for three seasons.

With the end of the series comes the termination of a 10-year partnership between executive producers Barbara Samuels and Wayne Grigsby. The tv veterans worked together on such series as e.n.g. and North of 60. Samuels says the two wanted to explore other avenues and were ‘growing in different directions.’

While no plans exist to actively produce anything under the Fogbound banner, Samuels says the Toronto-based production company will remain a corporate entity for the next few years.

As for the producers themselves, Grigsby is in development on a series for cbc called Sherpa Love, and is acting as a show runner for the Canadian Film Centre’s new Prime Time Television Resident Program. Samuels is taking the time to think about her next move before focusing on anything specific.
