* At Rainmaker Digital Pictures in Vancouver, Katie McFadden has been appointed director of operations, overseeing all lab and post activities there.
In other Rainmaker staff news, Daryl Smith assumes the title of operations manager for video post services, and Deirdre Bennett has been named to the new position of program manager, overseeing the team of program coordinators.
* Vancouver’s Lost Boys Studios has been trading talent with its sister companies, including 525 Studios in l.a. and Virgin Television in Mexico City.
525’s Steve Meyers, who has worked on feature projects like Mouse Hunt, Blade and Armageddon, will be in Vancouver working on an Outer Limits episode. In turn, Lost Boys president Mark Benard is heading to 525 to work on the completion of the episode.
In addition, Lost Boys producer Roula Lainas is working with Virgin managing director Manny Fernandez to develop Latin American commercial 3D animation business, with projects as far afield as fcb, Guatemala.
Since 1997, Lost Boys has been a partner with l.a.’s Virgin Digital Studios, part of the u.k.-based Virgin Group. Benard is currently in discussion with Virgin toward creating a Santa Monica branch of Lost Boys.
* Silicon Graphics Canada has appointed Michael Harrison as branch manager, Western Canada. Harrison will oversee all Western Canada sales activity including the entertainment and communications sectors. Harrison had previously been with IBM Canada for 14 years.
