The Harold Greenberg Fund has provided script development funds for 14 new Canadian film projects for the second time in its fiscal year. The fund was founded by tmn and Astral Communications and the 14 new films that have been chosen for funding are in various stages of script preparation and cover a wide array of subjects.
Among the films which received assistance from the fund during their first-draft stage are:
The Law of Enclosures is being produced by Pluck and is based on Dale Peck’s novel about a couple’s life-long love affair.
Fry Girl, produced by 47 Films, follows the misadventures of a 16-year-old punk-rock girl who wins a trip to London to see The Clash.
Bleeding is produced by Ghost Films and Cadence Entertainment and is the story of a white man who turns racist after being stabbed by a black man.
American Creeps (aka Menace), produced by Shadow Shows, is about a misfit student hired by a comic book watch-dog agency.

Dorothy Dares, produced by Betty Orr, the story of a Rosedale woman who is left by her spouse and finds work at the Don Jail.
Bob the Gambler is based on a novella by Frederick Barthelme about how a gambler’s addiction affects a family. It is being produced by Latitude Films.
How Could You Mrs. Dick is based on the play about the murder trial of Evelyn Dick from Hamilton. It is being produced by Triptych Media.
Paula’s Power Play is into its second draft and is about a women’s hockey team that challenges a men’s hockey squad to win rights for inter-league play.
A Wake in Brooklyn is in its final draft stage and has been funded thus far by the fund. In this film, a widowed mother and her three daughters party in New York, exploring their relationship between seeing the sites.
Everywhere And Where It Went is also into its final draft and is being produced by Lisa Wyndels. It is about a farm kid who moves to the big city to live with his crooked cop father.
Natural Justice is in its second draft and is about a Metis lawyer who is involved with a married cop during a trial featuring a native boy who has been accused of killing a policeman.
Bulldogs is in its second draft as well. It is about a Toronto street kid who participates in a disastrous crime in an attempt to raise money to start over in Vancouver.
The Snow Walker is based on a Farley Mowat story, Walk Well My Brother, and is being produced by PG Producers Group. It is the story of a bush pilot whose plane crashes in the Arctic and who looks to an Inuit woman for help.
Cafe Ole is in the final draft stage. The film is being produced by Publi-Mage and is a romantic comedy about a man who finds his new love interest is about to be deported.
