Sources say CanWest Global’s director of special projects Gary Maavara is first on the shortlist to replace outgoing Canadian Cable Television Association president Richard Stursberg.

With CanWest for the last six months, Maavara is the former longtime head of legal and regulatory affairs for CTV Network. His file at CanWest includes corporate initiatives as well as regulatory and multimedia strategies.

in wake of news that staffer Mark Baldi has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the staff of McClear Pathe Recording Studios is organizing a fundraising event to help the Baldi family maintain their quality of life as the disease progresses. Donations will also be made to the ALS Society of Metro.
