The NBA regular season got off to a strong start for the Toronto Raptors and The Score, which both came out on top for the team’s opening game of the 2009/10 frame.
The matchup between the Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers nabbed a record 420,000 viewers on The Score on Oct. 28, as Toronto sailed past the competition in a 101-91 victory — led by star forward Andrea Bargnani with 28 points. The game peaked at 741,000 viewers. (All numbers 2+.)
The broadcaster says it’s the highest audience for a regular-season Raptors game across any Canuck network within the last decade — likely helped by BBM’s new Portable People Meters. The previous regular-season high on The Score was 238,000 viewers.
The Raptors game aired on a competitive night that saw TSN nab a million viewers for the Toronto Maple Leafs/Dallas Stars bout, while Rogers Sportsnet generated nearly 700,000 viewers for game one of the World Series. (The number is 60% higher than last year’s game one.)
The Score has 20 regular-season Raptors games, while TSN and TSN2 will air 50 games in total.
