Canucks score at Emmys

The 26th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences May 15 and May 21 in New York, saw a handful of Canadian winners this year.

For the second year running, the Outstanding Children’s Animated Program Award went to Arthur, produced by Montreal-based Cinar Corporation and wgbh Boston (pbs). Executive producers for the series are Micheline Charest and Carol Greenwald.

The Outstanding Achievement in Animation Award was presented to William Joyce, production designer for Nelvana’s Rolie Polie Olie.

Devine Entertainment received three awards, including Outstanding Writing in a Children’s Special (Heather Conkie) and Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography (Rick Maguire) for the Inventor’s Specials: On the Shoulders of Giants (hbo), and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing (Daniel Pellerin, Andrew Tay, Tony Van Den Akker) for Edison: The Wizard of Light (hbo).
