LOS ANGELES — Red Digital Camera gives a sneak peek at its next generation at the HD Expo, showing off the Epic-X S35.

‘One of the improvements from first generation to second is the ASA rating,’ says company rep Ted Schilowitz, up from the 320 rating of the Red One to 500 or higher. ‘So you’ll be able to push the envelope much more drastically in terms of low-light shooting.

‘Early testing we’ve done’ — this is a preproduction model, the finished product will be available late this year or early next — ‘is very comfortable at 500 ASA and pushing it into the 640, 800 ASA range.’
