* McClear, Digital Music form new company
Toronto audio shops McClear Pathe Recording and Post Production and Digital Music & Post have joined forces to form a new entity, McClear/Digital.
Former Digital owner Rob Yale will be gm of the new company, which will be operating out of the McClear Pathe homestead at 225 Mutual Street as of July 1.
Technologically, the merger allows the shop to offer a larger range of digital recording options, including digital audio workstations, digital phone patch and digital Betacam restriping. Digital Music & Post brings 48-track digital technology to the table, which McClear did not offer prior to the deal.
According to Yale, McClear/Digital will acquire a digital console and plans to be in the forefront of dvd audio technology.
* Post Modern exclusive
Post Modern Sound in Vancouver has formalized a loose, three-year client relationship with Sugar Entertainment, a division of Vancouver’s Vidatron Entertainment.
The exclusive and open-ended deal means 25-year-old Post Modern will handle all the sound work generated by producer Larry Sugar, who oversees series such as Dead Man’s Gun, First Wave and So Weird.
Sugar gets Post Modern’s ‘best rates,’ says the sound company’s president and founder David Hoole. The exclusive relationship enhances Post Modern’s credibility with other clients, adds Hoole.
Sugar Entertainment represents about a third of Post Modern’s annual revenues.
