Montreal: International coproduction continues to show impressive growth. Through the first six months of 1999, Telefilm Canada’s international relations office issued advance rulings for 94 film and tv coproductions with cumulative budgets of $560.5 million. The Canadian share of the financing is $276.2 million, or 49%.

The totals include 70 tv coproductions with combined budgets of $390.5 million and 24 feature films with budgets of $169.9 million, 47% Canadian. France holds steady as Canada’s leading coproduction partner with 40 shared projects, followed by the u.k. with 20 and Germany with nine. In calendar ’98, Canada coproduced 70 projects worth $578 million.
