France 2 buys Un gars, une fille

France 2 has picked up format rights to the top-rated Guy A. Lepage sitcom Un gars, une fille. The French broadcaster first commissioned 25 seven-minute vignettes from the Avanti Cine Video show and then raised the stakes to 50 episodes, weeknights during peak prime hours just before the 8 p.m. news. The show is being reshot in Paris by Productions 22. Lepage was in Paris to direct the pilot.

The show’s new season on Radio-Canada debuts in October, with cast and crew coincidentally traveling to Paris for a taping.

The format has been sold by exporter/importer Distraction Format and Avanti in 11 countries, with ongoing interest from a major u.k. broadcaster.

Un gars, une fille is a sketch comedy featuring a zany, thirtysomething couple played by Lepage and Sylvie Leonard. The show is nominated in six Prix Gemeaux categories, including best comedy series.
